Our four-day, on-site workshop at Wild Forest Garden provides an in-depth exploration of the principles of Syntropic Agriculture. Discover how to plant biodiverse food forests that naturally build healthy water and nutrient cycles — enhancing soil fertility and producing nutrient-rich food without the need for external inputs.
Participants will also learn how to grow thriving vegetable gardens, integrating them into the forest, using a 'no-dig' approach and gaining regenerative skills for immediate food resilience.
Limited to a maximum of 20 people.
The course will be conducted in English.
Participants will explore five distinct syntropic plots planted at different times, including a 3 year old system, one that is 2 years old, a one year and one newly planted this winter, each with different crop focuses. You will learn how to create forest gardens with a polyculture no-dig approach, growing a combination of annuals, perennials, aromatics and flowers. Learn how to create beauty and abundance, creating art through nature.
The course will explore these essential topics, including:
The negative impact that modern agriculture and the agriculture of ancient civilisations has had on our environment.
The key principles of Syntropic Agriculture, including ecological succession, stratification and the benefits of diversity.
Improve soil health and biodiversity through practices like pruning and disturbance and learn the basic techniques of pruning company species and schooling of fruit trees; discover how we can interact meaningfully with nature.
Learn how to create your own tree nursery with minimal investment with practical seed preparation and seed saving techniques.
Learn effective water management with minimal earth work, working with the power of plants to retain and cycle water.
Learn the no-dig approach to growing thriving vegetable and herb gardens, integrating them into the forest, for immediate food resilience.
Learn about the importance of integrating wild plants and perennials into vegetable gardens, how it improves soil health and also human health, through high nutrient density.
Hands on experience in designing a syntropic inspired forest system and a vegetable and herb garden.
